Photo circle presents annual calendar for 2025

The Geisa Photo Circle has once again produced the popular annual calendars for 2025 with impressive photos from the Rhön. Natural landscapes, detailed views and impressions of the Geisa region can be found in the two new calendars from the photo circle, which is an interest group within the Förderverein Kunst, Kultur und Wissenschaft Geisa e. V. (Geisa Association for the Promotion of Art, Culture and Science). “Naturmomente unserer Rhön”
The “Naturmomente unserer Rhön” calendar shows close-ups of native animal and plant species. Well-known songbirds and birds of prey such as the red kite, butterflies and dragonflies through to the cheeky billy goat were captured on camera by the amateur photographers. “Around the Geisa region”
The second calendar “Around the Geisa region” features nature and landscape photographs from and around the Geisa region. Views of villages, snow-covered Rhön landscapes, fields of red poppies and a herd of Rhön sheep guide you through the year 2025. New members welcome
The photo circle has a total of 15 members, all of whom come from the entire Geisa region. The amateur photographers meet every second Thursday of the month at 19:30 in the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery to exchange ideas and take part in workshops. Points of sale
The calendars for 2025 can be purchased for €10 at the Geisa pharmacy and at the specialist store Geschenke Henkel in Geisa.

Geisa Advent magic

The interest group “WIR FÜR GEISA” organized a pre-Christmas event together with the local associations, which delighted visitors of all ages from near and far.

The Förderverein Kunst, Kultur und Wissenschaft Geisa e. V. also took part in the Geisa Advent Magic with offers for young and old.

Children were able to make and paint stars under the guidance of members of the sponsoring association and learn the meaning of the fairy tale of the Sterntaler.

The four fairytale walks offered during the Advent magic were a particularly nice activity for the children, during which the night watchman went through the city with big and small elves to various stations.

The members of the Tuesday Painters of the Friends’ Association had spent weeks preparing fairytale pictures and fairytale figures. One of the stations was the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery with the fairy tale Sterntaler.

Many visitors took the opportunity to visit the gallery and the special exhibition “Homage to the Rhön” by the artist Herbert Lochner from Dorndorf.

Foundation funds for local history and customs

Inauguration of the new oven in the Borsch bakery The Werner Deschauer Foundation Geisa promotes charitable, non-profit, cultural and ecclesiastical purposes in the town of Geisa in accordance with its statutes. This also includes the preservation of local history and customs. This year, for example, the thorough renovation of the bakehouse and the purchase of a new oven were supported with a financial contribution from the Werner Deschauer Foundation. The Borsch Bakehouse Interest Group, led by Sabine Volkmar, invited guests to the official opening of the new oven in the bakehouse on December 1, 2024.

Many residents and guests attended, including members of the board of trustees of the Werner Deschauer Foundation Geisa with its chairman Wilhelm Heumüller, board member Sylvia Möller and board member Matthias Kehr.

The priest Dr. Aloysius Ndiukwu came with altar servers and performed the blessing. District Mayor Sabine Volkmar and First Deputy Mayor Simone Kleinstück welcomed the numerous guests. Members and friends of the Backhaus interest group had prepared many culinary offerings in and around the winter-decorated bakery to get in the mood for the Advent season. Among other things, there were sausages and meat loaf from the new oven as well as stollen and home-baked Christmas cookies.

The Junge Ulstertaler Musikanten provided a festive atmosphere. Later in the evening, the “Siebenschläfer” alphorn band from Geisa serenaded the guests with music in front of the bakery.

“Nature is worth painting” – a tribute to the Rhön

Festive vernissage at the opening of Herbert Lochner’s exhibition “Nature is worth painting” – words of an artist who is considered a likeable and modest person in his work, his creations and his life, but who first became known to the public in the Rhön through his facade paintings. In his 2nd exhibition in the Anneliese-Deschauer-Galerie Geisa after 5 years, Herbert Lochner shows impressive works that were created during this time. Many guests at the very well attended vernissage on November 22 were able to view the 36 Rhön landscapes and purchase them in good time as Christmas presents.

Through the eyes of the artist Pictures showing the magnificent, unspoilt Rhön – the Pferdskopf, the Baier, the view of Geisa, but also moorland landscapes can be seen impressively through the eyes of the artist. Lochner, who had always enjoyed painting and drawing, initially had to turn down a place at the Leipzig Academy of Art because his father wanted him to learn a “proper profession” first. So he trained as a skilled worker for control and regulation technology at the potash plant. But he couldn’t let go of painting. He remained true to his passion in the Merkers painting and drawing circle and later became a freelance artist with his own studio in Dorndorf.

Ambassador of the Rhön The laudator Anja Meyfarth, who had traveled all the way from Gotha, described him as a passionate ambassador of the Rhön. Lochner’s pictures tell stories, he captures the Rhön in his pictures and brings it to life. Stories of sunbeams dancing through the trees, the little butterfly on a Rhön thistle and dew on a rose hip – discovered and greatly enlarged, but incredibly realistic, showing the precious little wonders of everyday life. Meyfarth and Lochner have a long-standing friendship and a shared love of elementary aspects of nature. Meyfarth herself works and lives in nature, as a forester, hiking guide, wood sculptor and herbalist.

Painting for Hospice Center One work, however, stands out from the nature and landscape paintings. The large-format and colorful painting no. 34 “Animals in Danger” is presented this evening as a donation by the artist for the Hospice Center Bad Salzungen/Rhön. Heike Fritzsche accepts the gift with grateful words, which will find a worthy place for the children in the “Haus Lichtblick”.

The work of the outpatient hospice service is incredibly important and valuable. For many years, there has been regular cooperation between the support association and the hospice in supporting bereavement work, especially for children. Astrid Weimann-Heim in particular supports these children with creative workshops in the Anneliese-Deschauer-Galerie. And so the arc of this collaboration spans – nature and children must be preserved, they are our future.

Rhönlied intoned as blues Doris Heim (Chairwoman of the Förderverein Kunst, Kultur und Wissenschaft Geisa e.V.) and Sylvia Möller (moderator) skillfully lead through the vernissage and also had a fine hand with the musical selection. Uli Göb, music teacher, bar pianist and known to many as a solo entertainer, showed a different side to the theme of the exhibition. His interpretation of well-known pieces in jazz style and in particular the Rhönlied intoned as blues impressed many guests. Music and images form a harmony, uplifting the atmosphere. An evening that makes the love for the homeland and the Rhön visible and audible to all guests. The exhibition will end on Friday, 20.12.2024, from 3-5 pm with a public finissage and can be viewed until then during the opening hours of the gallery and at the Geisa Christmas market (14/15.12.2024). The local history association with its chairman Johannes Henning and the Rhönklub branch association Geisa with its chairman Jürgen Fleck had invited to the book presentation in the domicile of the Rhönklub on November 9th.

The new volume about the Native American priest Eugen Büchel (1874-1954), who was born in Schleid, was written by Wilhelm Ritz from Geisa.
The book in A4 size with 73 pages was published as part of the publication series of the Heimat- und Geschichtsverein “Geisaer Amt” e. V., which aims to make special topics accessible to an interested public.

Promoting the preservation of local history and customs
The Werner Deschauer Foundation supports the aims of the series and provided financial support for the publication of this book.
Sylvia Möller, a member of the Werner Deschauer Foundation’s Board of Trustees, attended the book launch and thanked the author Wilhelm Ritz for his great commitment to preserving the life and work of the Jesuit priest from the Rhön for future generations.

Foundation and city lay wreath

To mark All Saints’ Day and Remembrance Day, representatives of the town of Geisa and the Werner Deschauer Foundation laid a memorial wreath in front of the memorial on Brandplatz in Geisa. The memorial to the victims of war, expulsion and violence was erected and financed in 2007 on the initiative of the Werner Deschauer Foundation Geisa.
The quartz sandstone for the memorial comes from the Friedewald sandstone quarry and was made by the sculptor Rainer Landgraf from Fulda.
It was consecrated by the then town priest Uwe Hahner on September 30, 2007 with a large turnout from the local population.
Among them were many schoolchildren who read out the individual names of the victims of the First and Second World Wars and placed candles at the memorial.

Festive closing of the special exhibition WERNER SCHWARZ

The special exhibition of works by Dermbach artist WERNER SCHWARZ (1924-2010), which opened on September 13, 2024, came to a close on October 18 with a festive finissage. Many interested art lovers, as well as friends and acquaintances of the artist, visited the diverse exhibition at the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery in Geisa.

On the final day, members of the association had prepared a reception with coffee and homemade cakes for the visitors.
Sylvia Möller thanked the artist’s family on behalf of the association for providing over 60 works from the artistic estate of her ancestor. The final tour of the exhibition was led by the artist’s daughter, Kristin Mainzer from Dermbach. She presented some of her father’s works and spoke about his various creative periods up to the last few years. Due to illness, he could no longer hold the brush so well and therefore painted with his fingers. The audience particularly liked these paintings, as they have a refreshing and modern effect with their very strong color pigments and bright colors.

Kristin Mainzer thanked the town of Geisa for providing the gallery and the hard-working volunteer members of the Förderverein Kunst, Kultur und Wissenschaft Geisa e. V. with Chairwoman Doris Heim for their great commitment in organizing and implementing the exhibition concept.
According to Kristin Mainzer, this was the only way to fulfil her late mother’s wish to commemorate her father’s 100th birthday with an exhibition. As this was not possible due to renovation work at the museum in Dermbach, she was very grateful that the special exhibition could be held in the exceptionally beautiful setting of the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery.

2nd volume published

At a festive book presentation in the Gangolfi Hall of the Point Alpha Foundation in Geisa, numerous visitors witnessed the launch of the second volume of “Wir im Geisaer Amt”.

History brought to life

Johannes Henning, chairman of the “Geisaer Amt” local history association, welcomed the authors of the book, Thomas Imhof from Michael-Imhof-Verlag Fulda, Jürgen Reinhard, former president of the Rhönklub, as well as the many interested visitors, including representatives of friendly associations and the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery.

Country, people, way of life

Thomas Imhof was delighted to be able to hand over the second volume of this well-done work. He wished the readers exciting entertainment and at the same time a lot of fun reading the richly illustrated volume about “Land, People, Way of Life”. Readers can get to know life in Geisa in a very special way and go on a journey of discovery. The various chapters cover topics such as food, sport, music and song, and thought-provoking and light-hearted stories.

Craft and art

There was also a lot to draw attention to in the “Crafts and Art” chapter. On 50 pages and 106 illustrations, you can get to know a lot of artists from the Geisa district who amaze the viewer with their talent in various art forms such as painting, wood and ceramic art, writing, theater and dance. Johannes Henning, who ultimately brought all the threads together, received a great deal of support from co-authors Michael Kiel, Bruno Leister, Manfred Dittmar, Maria Hruschka and Walter Schönfeld in editing this extensive section of the book.

Cultural and historical value

A special section in this chapter is dedicated to the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery and the Friends of Art, Culture and Science.
The funds for the construction and furnishing of the gallery were donated by Werner and Anneliese Deschauer and made available to the town of Geisa via the Werner Deschauer Foundation.

Day and night pictures in an exhibition by Chrizi-ART

The gallery combines art and city history under one roof.

Sylvia Möller, a member of the association’s board, explained the cultural and historical value of this unique institution on the basis of the constantly changing exhibitions, lectures and working circles and did not forget to invite all citizens who had not yet found the time to visit the gallery with the local history museum.

Book sales outlets

The Geisaer Amt local history and heritage association has organized points of sale for the second volume of “Wir im Geisaer Amt” (We in the Geisaer Amt) in addition to bookshops in several towns so that the books can be purchased locally. These are in Bermbach (Elisabeth Kling), in Bremen (Maria Hruschka), in Buttlar (Karl Josef Kramer), in Geismar (Erwin Schmelz), in Wiesenfeld (Michael Kehl) and in Geisa (Johannes Henning and the heating/sanitary company Martin Henkel.

Grant for sports and leisure facility

The new inter-communal sports and leisure facility in Geisa is equipped with an artificial turf football pitch, running and sprint tracks as well as other play and fitness facilities.
This has created a meeting place where people of all generations can come together to exchange ideas and enjoy joint activities.
To support this and to recognize the enormous commitment of the volunteers, the Board of Trustees granted a substantial financial contribution from the Werner Deschauer Foundation Geisa to purchase a sweeping and vacuuming machine for the sports facility.
Some of the youngest participants in the 3rd Geisa Hour Run showed Sylvia Möller from the Board of Trustees of the Werner Deschauer Foundation the sweeping and vacuuming machine.
Anne, who was celebrating her birthday that day, was allowed to sit high up in the driver’s seat.
The Werner Deschauer Foundation also contributed to the purchase of a minibus to promote young footballers.
