Successful vernissage for the exhibition opening

A multifaceted exhibition with 65 works of art by the Pferdsdorf artist Helga Leinhos is currently on display at the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery Geisa. The amateur painter shows a selection of her creative watercolors, floral collages and textile works under the title “Time to dream”.

Vernissage with art and music
The exhibition was opened on June 16 with a ceremonial vernissage. The moderator Sylvia Möller welcomed numerous visitors on behalf of the Förderverein Kunst, Kultur und Wissenschaft Geisa e. V. (Association for the Promotion of Art, Culture and Science). Among the guests were the artist Helga Leinhos, the mayor of Geisa Manuela Henkel, Wilhelm Heumüller from the board of trustees of the Werner Deschauer Foundation and district mayor Uwe Schmidt from Pferdsdorf. In her laudatory speech, Dagmar Nicklich, the 2nd Chairwoman of the Friends, praised the diversity of the works on display, recited poems by Rainer Maria Rilke and explained: “Meditative watercolor painting, which means letting selected colors flow onto a paper soaked in water while listening to relaxed music, depending on the emotional state. Ms. Leinhos says that her pictures paint themselves, so to speak. But it’s probably not that simple after all. Let the right colors flow to the right place, take away something there, add something there, have patience, what develops there, control this then skillfully, that is the art.”

The artist
Helga Leinhos is a trained decorator and florist, took a correspondence course in artistic textile design and began 30 years ago with meditative watercolor painting in wet-on-wet technique. A stay on a Danish vacation island for an intensive painting internship had a decisive influence on her subsequent creative style. Found objects were woven into dream catchers or found a place in their designs. Floral collages are the name of the artworks that combine the watercolor technique with the application of plant parts. Ms. Leinhos uses floral elements such as flowers, grasses, seeds or foliage and applies them imaginatively to a watercolor background. The creative artist sends the viewers of her paintings on a true journey of discovery. Her works bear such mystical titles as “Magical Full Moon”, “Forest Spirit” or “Departure to Paradise”.

The musicians
The musical framework of the vernissage arranged the duo Kati Hofmann & Markus Höbler of the Thuringian party band “Rhönfieber” with sensitively presented songs, like “I have a dream” of ABBA, “Wovon sollen wir träumen” of Frida gold or “Bitte hör nicht auf zu träumen” of Xavier Naidoo.

The outlook
The chairwoman of the sponsoring association, Doris Heim, concluded by giving an outlook on the next events. Among other things, the opening of the next special exhibition with caricatures by Horst Saar from Vacha is planned for September 8, and a workshop “Learning to paint in watercolors for beginners” will start on October 18.
Doris Heim then opened the exhibition and invited all guests to take a tour and marvel at the range of creative work of the artist Helga Leinhos.

The exhibition will be on view at the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery until August 31, 2023. Opening hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 am to 3 pm, Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm and by appointment through the Geisa Tourist Office.
