Homage to the Rhön
New exhibition shows impressions by Herbert Lochner
The painter Herbert Lochner from Dorndorf (Rhön) loves his homeland. People who look at his paintings can sense this. He is deeply rooted in the Rhön, as evidenced by his new, previously unpublished oil paintings, which are being presented in an exhibition for the first time. The public vernissage with live music by Uli Göb will take place on November 22, 2024 at 7 pm (admission from 6 pm) in the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery Geisa. In 1991, the Rhön was recognized by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve. With an area of almost 2500 square kilometers, it extends over the federal states of Bavaria, Hesse and Thuringia. The Rhön reveals its beauty to people at all times of the year, especially when viewed through the eyes of a painter.
Journey through the Rhön
For decades, the Rhön, the land of open spaces, has offered the painter Herbert Lochner an inexhaustible wealth of motifs. He captures the special places on his hikes in sketches and photographs. In his studio, he draws on this preparatory work. His aim is not to create a faithful image of the landscape, but to capture real moods of light and color, whether in sunshine, storms or fog. He wants to share his experiences, taking viewers along on his journey through the Rhön and at the same time opening up spaces for their own imagination. Over the past few months, the artist has repeatedly traveled through the Rhön to be inspired by its scenic beauty and vastness to create new paintings. The result is an incredible 36 new paintings in oil on canvas, suitably framed, which will be on display for the first time in a special exhibition.
Opening on November 22
The new exhibition entitled “Homage to the Rhön” will be on display at the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Galerie Geisa from November 22 to December 20, 2024. The Förderverein Kunst, Kultur und Wissenschaft Geisa e. V. invites all interested parties to the opening ceremony on November 22 with free admission.
Finissage on December 20
At the end of the exhibition, the association invites you to a finissage with coffee and cake on December 20 from 3-5 pm. This is the last opportunity to take a tour of the exhibition, talk to the artist and purchase his Rhön paintings as a Christmas present or for your own living room. Admission to the finissage is free.
