Visitors can immerse themselves in another world on a tour of the new photo exhibition “From Rhönland to Greenland”. The new special exhibition at the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery opened with a festive vernissage on February 23, 2024. Over 60 pictures selected by the members of the photo circle and a visitor puzzle invite visitors to marvel and discuss.
Young talents inspired
The vernissage was accompanied by international songs on the theme of travel by Andrea Rübsam from Ketten and young talents from the region. Rosa Schütz and Johanna Glotzbach from Bremen sang the song “194 Länder” by Mark Forster at the opening. 14-year-old Emilia Albinger from Dipperz impressed the audience with the Spanish version of the song “Grüne Augen lügen nicht” by Jeremias. The song “We know the way” from the movie “Vaiana” was sung by Elena Rübsam from Geisa and Johanna Glotzbach. Anastasia Müller from Gersfeld, who also takes singing lessons with Andrea Rübsam, gave an impressive performance of the Russian folk song “Nadeschda Kadysheva”, which is about a tragic love story.
The diversity of photography
Doris Heim, Chairwoman of the Association for the Promotion of Art, Culture and Science, welcomed the numerous guests to the vernissage, including the Mayor of Geisa, Manuela Henkel.
Dieter Kiel is the course leader of the photo circle. He reported on the photo circle, which is an interest group within the Geisa Art, Culture and Science Promotion Association and was founded six years ago.
The members of the photo circle:
Andreas Hundertmark from Buttlar, Andreas Vogt from Geismar, Andreas Waitz from Spahl, Astrid Weimann-Heim from Geisa, Dieter Kiel from Geismar, Gabi Freitag from Kranlucken, Gina Fladung from Borsch, Melanie and Lorenz Krah from Geisa, Luisa Hohmann from Spahl, Lutz Knauf from Geisa, Oskar Simon from Geisa, Sylvia Oswald from Motzlar, Walter Schönfeld from Borsch and Werner Ziesch from Geisa.
New members welcome
The amateur photographers meet every second Thursday of the month in the studio of the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery. They combine an interest in photography with a variety of different knowledge and orientations. This includes nature – including macro, landscape, architecture, abandoned places, photo technology, cell phone photography and video. This diversity is impressively reflected in the current exhibition. Dieter Kiel also launched an appeal to anyone interested in joining the photo circle. New members are always welcome.
Workshops with experienced photographers
The photo circle also organizes workshops, including with the renowned photographer Walter Rammler from Fulda and Wigbert Jakobi, the founder of the Goldener Schnitt Künzell photo group. Dieter Kiel warmly welcomed both to the vernissage.
Laudator Walter Rammler came from Fulda
The laudatory speech was given by photographer Walter Rammler from Fulda. He started taking photographs at the age of 10. He is still fascinated by photography to this day. He has been working on independent projects and exhibitions in Fulda for over 40 years. He became particularly well known for his life-size black and white portraits of Fulda’s citizens. But his repertoire also includes breathtaking landscapes from all over the world, architecture and countless other motifs.
Pictures are memories
Walter Rammler asked the audience if they remembered a particular picture. Some answers came spontaneously. Images are memories of certain events that are imprinted in people’s lives. The members of the photo circle have made a selection of photos that have a special significance in order to place them in the context of the theme “From Rhönland to Greenland”. For example, a photo of Greenland is deliberately placed right next to a photo of Lützenbachshof. Walter Rammler spoke out in favor of not taking so many photos, especially with a cell phone, but rather consciously choosing a situation beforehand. In his opinion, it is better to take fewer photographs in order to create memories with the motifs.
Exhibition runs until April 11, 2024
Dagmar Nicklich from Vacha, 2nd chairwoman of the association, gave the closing remarks. She gave an outlook on the upcoming events. The next special exhibition “Crazy Colors” with the Weimar painter Mathias Rößler will take place on April 19. Further dates can be found on this website.
Dagmar Nicklich then opened the photo exhibition “From Rhönland to Greenland”, which can be seen in the ANNELIESE DESCHAUER Gallery until April 11.
